Day 1: Quote challenge ― Pan’s Labyrinth

pan's labyrinth quote

Thank you to the lovely Sarish for tagging me in this challenge. She’s a blogger who shares stories about her life, opinions and adventures which are very insightful and inspiring too. Check her out at sarishboo.com!

So, to start off this 3-day quote challenge, I chose something from one of my favorite movies, Pans Labyrinth:

⠀ ❝ …it is said that the Princess returned to her father’s kingdom. That she reigned there with justice and a kind heart for many centuries. That she was loved by her people. And that she left behind small traces of her time on Earth, visible only to those who know where to look. ❞ ― Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)

Pan’s Labyrinth is about the story of a girl named Ofelia, who lives on Earth like you and me. The obstacles she goes through are troubling, just like how many of us face obstacles we would much rather not deal with. She ends up going back to her family and their kingdom, where she continues to live on as a princess while leaving behind bits of her on Earth. This part of the movie was pretty sad and it makes me cry every time I see it because you kind of feel her happiness of going back home. This scene reminds me of how observant I am and how even I don’t notice everything at times because I’m too busy with things that aren’t even important. It also makes me think of an imaginary Ofelia, like if she were a girl next door from me. It makes you want to treat people with respect and not be hateful, because you never know what they are dealing with just as they don’t know what is going on with you. Even if someone is being rude to you, they might just be having a bad day. I just want to love and cherish Ofelia!

******* Spoiler Alert

she is a princess and goes back to the kingdom once she’s killed on Earth. A small flower blooms on a tree where she touched once when she was alive! ahh my heart!… Now that I think about this scene, it makes me want to look more at and appreciate what the earth leaves behind; a leaf, the sky, a flower in the wintertime, anything. It’s nice to think about reincarnation and since my cat died, I started to believe in it more heh.

if you already saw this movie but want to see the scene, click here ******* SPOILER END

I wanted to explain why the quote is my favorite but I couldn’t unless I spoiled the scene lol
